Back to Maya's kennel!!!

After we finished the bathroom at Wolfords, we got back to Maya's kennel. Jon finished hooking the chain link to the fence & buried it. Then he took all the branches from the dead tree to the dump (green waste is FREE!!) & took the rebar & other random metal stuff to the scrap yard.

Then he dug the holes for these posts (there are 2 but I don't think you can see the other one).

Then he cemented them in the ground!! & that's as far as we've gotten!! We're waiting for Custom Fence to make the gate & then we have to put up the rest of the chain link & get a load of wood chips. Then we should be pretty much done!! Woohoo I can't wait!!!

ANOTHER project!!!!!

*****WARNING: VERY LONG POST!!!!!*****

Everyone probably thinks we are insane because we never really do anything fun, we just work & then when we get home we just work MORE!!! So since that's all we do that's all I have to blog about, so you'll all just have to live with it!! A couple weeks ago we offered to remodel the bathroom at Wolfords. Based on past experiences, I knew that they would pay us good money to do it. Even though I knew it would be a HUGE project, I knew they'd make it worth our time!! I
took about a million pictures so I'll try to sift out some of them.

This is the before pictures. It doesn't do much justice, it was so freaking disgusting. Thank goodness I don't have to use it. This is actually the bathroom that's out in the shop. We started by ripping all that fiberglass off the walls, & scraping the old paint off the floor so we could tile.

This is with mostly everything torn out. Jon just had a wire brush that he scrubbed the floor with. There was a couple layers of paint to scrub off!!
After all that was done, Matt showed up to help tile. Jon bought a tile saw for this project (& for future ones too!) So he was super stoked to use that!

Matt would measure, tell Jon what to cut, Jon would cut it, Matt would lay it. It was quite the operation they had goin on!!

We also put a new drain in, & replaced the threshold. As you can see it was completely rotted out - ewww!!!

After they finished tiling, they had to wait 24 hrs for it to dry & then they started grouting.

Then after the grout was done, they had to wipe it down like 5 times!

Isn't it so pretty??!! After the grout was done, we had to wait for that to dry 24 hrs again!! So it was kind of a slow process but it was nice that we weren't there constantly. After we finished we could take a 24 hr break!!

After the grout dried, we started putting up the new fiberglass. WHAT A PAIN IN THE BUTT!!!! Holy crap, I will NEVER use that stuff again!!!!!

Next step was painting!! I painted the shelf thing brown (doesn't it look awesome?!) & Jon painted the walls (that didn't have fiberglass on them) tan & painted the ceiling & trim white.

After all the paint dried (another SLOW process) We started putting everything back together.

This is a hook thing for the guys' work clothes. I painted it & then asked Jon if I should start putting the hooks on it & he looked at me & kinda stuttered "uhhhh... no I can do that." I was like "What the freak? Do you not trust me??" & he said NO!!! So after my eyes started brimming with tears he caved & let me do it. DUH I'm not retarded. So I had to rub it in his face how great of a job I did & how measuring & screwing screws into a board is not out of my skill level!!!!

Here's a couple FINAL shots. It doesn't look AS great since we had to put all the junk back in there but it's a MAJOR improvement!!!! That one on the right is kind of a shot of the new paint & fiberglass I dunno if you can really even tell but... anyway we're FINALLY done. After the long process of tiling & the long process of painting, & all the little odds & ends, etc, etc... it ended up taking a whole week to get it done. Luckily the toilet was only out of commission for one work day!! And now all I have to say is I hope those dudes take care of that bathroom now that we slaved away back there for so long!!!!

THE NELSON FAMILY

So if you're a part of the Nelson family, which I am & Jon has been FORCED in to, you pretty much have to ride a motorcycle, own at least one gun, know a lot about guns, enjoy killing animals, burp, fart, & the list goes on & on. (sorry about the last 2. I know those words aren't used in the Robinson family. haha) For this post I'm going to focus mainly on the first one - MOTORCYCLES. On Saturday we had a good old Nelson family outing. We all met up at mom & dad's - on our motorcycles of course.

From there we rode to Richmond & ate @ LD's Cafe (not a usual activity for the Nelsons. Even though the aforementioned list sounds pretty REDNECK, we do eat at NORMAL restaurants on a regular basis.)

Honestly it was fun for a change. I'm always up for something new! After we ate, we got back on the road. We continued north to the lovely town of Lewiston. As we cruised along the manure-ridden roads of this quaint little town, I thought to myself "Who would live clear the heck out here?" Little did I know, there were towns even farther the heck out there!! These include the next towns we encountered - Cornish & Newton. Thankfully we don't go out as far as Clarkston.. We stopped to say hi to one Newton-ite, Chief Deputy David L. Bennett & tried to recruit him to our POSSE but he wouldn't have it. Maybe next time..
I'm not really sure where we were after we left Newton. In fact I was a little worried we'd entered a twilight zone until we reached Valley View Highway, which I was SURE was still in Cache Valley. At that point my stomach settled. I knew Valley View would lead us back to our home safe & sound. So it was quite the ride, to say the least. I've never been to some of those places & will probably never go back but it was fun to see what this valley really has to offer -- fields. We did have some fun though. Here's few photos & videos for your enjoyment!!

The Next Step

We're slowly but surely getting Maya's kennel built. After we got the boat out & all the other junk taken to the dump, we started cleaning out all the leaves & weeds.

Jon also cut down the tree that was against the garage, just behind that pile of branches. It was totally dead so we just chopped it down!

Raking leaves, rocks, & muck

Cute Jon hard at work!!

After all the leaves & crap were gone, we started digging a trench around the edges by the fence. We are hooking some chain link to the fence and then burying it in the trench so Maya can't dig her way out!

Maya also helped dig the trench. Little does she know, that will be the last time she'll be able to dig right there!!
Jon THE MAN!!! Hardly even broke a sweat after all that hard work!

And here's the proof that I REALLY was there helping! As you can see by Jon's face, he's not a fan of all the pictures I was taking. So he obviously wasn't going to take a picture of me! I had to take it of myself!!

And here is the trench all dug out!! Last night we started nailing the chain link to the fence but my camera was dead. So I'll have to get a picture when we finish it!

Yesterday the weather was SO perfect so hopefully it will cooperate with us sometime this week so we can get this dang thing finished!!!
